The Counseling & Consulting Center

Debby Wines, M.Ed., LPC

Hello, and welcome to my website.

I am pleased that you have the time to spend a few minutes getting to know me. Having worked in counseling for more than 30 years I am convinced that selecting a therapist is a huge decision, and oftentimes, can be overwhelming. This important task usually comes when you may be facing one of the most difficult times in your life. It is an important decision and is vital that you and the therapist are a good match. The professional comfort level in the relationship is based on mutual respect which will allow trust to begin to develop. Collecting relevant information on me and or any potential therapist in advance of an appointment is an excellent beginning. I want to assist you in that regard by providing some professional information for you to review.

My Philosophy

I have been working in the counseling and consulting field for many years and I want you to know that I love my work!! My work really does not feel like "work" to me. I hear people say "oh, tomorrow is Monday and I have to go back to work". I never feel like that...I feel excited to return to the office because I love what I do. I am in a position to help people through the tough times in their lives. I am able to guide them through difficult decisions so that they can move forward in a way that is healthy and responsible. When I talk about "healthy" I am referring to healthy in every facet of life...physically, emotionally, sexually, spiritually, parentally and recreationally. All of these areas of our life are important, as they make our lives whole. To be in a position of trust, and to have the privilege of doing this is just pure joy for me.

I believe that every decision we make is a choice, and I firmly believe that every choice matters. I know that who we are today is a direct result of the choices we have made.

Some History

In the past I have worked in three private psychiatric hospitals and for the Texas State Department of Mental Health in Amarillo, Pampa, Corsicana and Bryan-College Station as a Clinical Psychotherapist. I have served as a Clinical Consultant and Educational Trainer for a private children's home as well as for private corporations in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. I teach classes on "Raising Children/Teens in 2016; "Assertiveness", "Deliberate Decision Making", "Trust: How to Get It and How to Give It", "Depression" and a variety of other topics. In the past, I have provided counseling services to residents in Nursing Home/Senior Citizen Centers and their families, and I love working with this very special segment of the population.

I have been employed by three Jr. Colleges and two Universities, not only as an instructor but also as the counselor for students, staff and faculty. I find the educational environment to be stimulating and enjoyable. I have been in private practice for thirty plus years and continue to enjoy each day's challenges.

Thank you for your time. I hope that this information offers some degree of comfort prior to your visit.
